  • How do you create a successful in-person event?
  • What kinds of events would be right for your store and your audience?
From conception, to marketing, to hosting, to post-event, David and Howard will explore strategies to organize compelling events that engage the community and propel growth and loyalty for your business. Sign up today for this exciting discussion!

My Biggest Success and Most Notable Screw Up

David Pyle with Carrie Kilmer, CEO of Soho Publishing
Guess Who's Coming to Namta Connect is a regular series featuring conversations with key figures within the industry - this month with Carrie Kilmer, CEO of SOHO Publishing. Carrie is responsible for brands like Vogue Knitting, Vogue Knitting Live! and Knit Simple. We’ll open the door to discuss memorable and pivotal moments: what’s been learned over the years in publishing, media and events? What opportunities does she see ahead for the community? What are Carrie’s most memorable experiences (names changed to protect the innocent!)? You’ll walk away with deeper insights about the arts and crafts landscape and tactics to employ in your business. Carrie was successfully able to pivot her company during the COVID-19 pandemic and has much to share about digital media in traditional publishing. We can’t wait to see what she brings to this discussion!

Meet James Lancel McElhinney - Author of Sketchbook Traveler Southwest

Thursday, February 2, 2023 at 3 pm ET

Keeping visual journals has been popular for centuries among artist-travelers as topographical drawings were essential to knowing what destinations looked like so voyagers would know when they arrived. Carrying this concept to the next level, Sketchbook Traveler Southwest expands plein-air painting beyond the range of easels and backpacks, providing educators with instructional concepts, giving professional artists new (and old) ways to hone mobile sketching skills.

Inviting readers to explore their surroundings through drawing and writing, Sketchbook Traveler Southwest is a field guide to mindful engagement with personal experience in ways that make every day an adventure.

Many Namta members are mentioned in Chapter Six, Into the Field. Join James Lancel McElhinney as he discusses his latest book.
