Position Title:  Product Manager

Position Summary:  Responsible for managing the product lines and strategic marketing activities for Crescent’s Art Materials and Specialty products. Develop long- and short-term strategies, marketing plans, new products, packaging and communications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the innovation and implementation of new strategies to drive awareness and improved market share to achieve our revenue and profit goals.
  • Develop a comprehensive marketing plan for each product category and provide forecasting and profit analysis for new and existing products.
  • Develop and manage product roadmaps, setting pricing, and executing final product launches.
  • Track and monitor product and campaign performance, including profitability, distribution, and consumer feedback.
  • Execute necessary product launches, line extensions and sku rationalizations; manage all inter-departmental efforts from development to introduction to post-launch review.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop product pricing ensuring margin requirements are met.
  • Direct development of appropriate marketing collateral, selling tools, training materials, merchandising and presentations while ensuring that compliance with corporate and brand identities.
  • Lead product education within the organization including developing webinars, product knowledge sessions and customer testimonials; be the “go to” person for product related inquiries and sales support.
  • Help develop creative briefs and brand creative/consumer communications, including advertising promotions and other consumer communications; manage external vendors.
  • Provide ongoing competitive market analysis to determine opportunities for growth as well as threats to existing business.
  • Identify and track new market trends to discover ways the organization can be positioned to capitalize on growth opportunities either within existing markets or through the development of new channels of business.
  • Participate in periodic customer visits to support sales efforts, advance product awareness and discover opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop ongoing relationships with key industry leaders/influencers to identify areas of potential growth as well as monitoring threats to existing business.
  • Continually monitor trends within the industry, related markets and consumers to ensure that products and communication are effective.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5-7 years of product management experience.
  • Experience in the art materials industry is strongly desired.
  • Experience in new product development including concept, sourcing, packaging and merchandising.
  • A good understanding of independent distributor and large chain business requirements.
  • Experience working with budgets and managing vendor relationships.
  • Ability to influence and work with cross-functional teams.
  • Must be a confident communicator and presenter, both verbal and written.
  • Must possess excellent organizational and project management skills with relentless attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work with a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Creative and self-motivated with a positive and professional approach.
  • Strong computer skills in Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required

GOLDEN Certified Working Artist

Golden Artist Colors, Inc. is seeking candidates to fill the position of GOLDEN Certified Working Artist to cover key market regions with home-bases in Atlanta, Boston, Philadelphia, Nashville, Memphis, Louisville and Toronto, Canada. GOLDEN Certified Working Artists have gone through extensive training and are contracted with GOLDEN to conduct lectures on GOLDEN Acrylics, QoR® Modern Watercolors, and Williamsburg Handmade Oil Colors.

Training consists of an in-depth study of technical aspects of our products, best practices, and vast exposure to a variety of teaching tools suited for artists at any level of experience in acrylic, oil, and watercolor.

Candidates should have an established history of teaching art with an active class and workshop schedule and be a practicing artist with proficiency in acrylics, oils, and watercolor. An MFA in Painting is preferred. Working Artists travel within a defined territory and present an educational seminar referred to as a Lecture & Demonstration approximately 10-15 times a year on behalf of GOLDEN. GOLDEN Working Artists are independent contractors that must obtain liability insurance and have their own transportation.

Candidate will be required to do light traveling, lift boxes around 20 lbs., be a self-starter, and able to function independently. Individuals are compensated for the training, presentations, and travel along with other related expenses.

Position Description:
The Purchaser is responsible for sourcing and obtaining raw materials for manufacturing and packaging, facility supplies, and other components to meet the ongoing needs of a busy production operation. They create and submit purchase orders to a variety of suppliers, negotiate material and shipping costs, source alternate vendors, and track purchasing timelines to improve turnaround.

The Purchaser works in step with the Production Manager to communicate any issues with vendor supplies, possible stoppages, better available pricing sought through newly sourced vendors, and ensure timely and complete stock is on hand for manufacturing. They seek out additional suppliers, building relationships with vendors and creating opportunities for optimal pricing and shipping timelines in an ongoing way.

The Purchaser should have experience procuring supplies in a manufacturing or industrial setting, and an eagerness to learn about the items we make. This role requires fastidious attention to detail, independent problem-solving, and a “no task too small” approach to service. This is an entry to mid-level position in a quickly growing company and will be an ideal fit for a focused, organized, and solutions-oriented person who can work with different people and communication styles both within and outside the organization.

Essential Functions

  • Procure the company’s raw materials, operating supplies, packaging, and other components and finished goods as required through schedule requirements or requisition specifications. Obtain the best price possible consistent with accepted industry standards, quality, service, and delivery schedules
  • Follow-up as needed on purchase orders’ item availability and arrival timeline, particularly to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing and business operation
  • Match all receivables to purchase orders to verify receipt of accurate quantities, specifications, price and delivery dates of item ordered. Maintain records of all variations to purchase orders and contact vendors or suppliers to expedite back orders or cancel as required
  • Check all supplier’s invoices for accuracy and agreed costs. Correspond with suppliers, as required, for discrepancies in invoices and with freight companies on charges, damage, or loss
  • Engage in detailed negotiations of pricing, delivery terms, service, and parts quality, as required, within limitations imposed by good purchasing practices
  • Communicate impending shortages to Production Manager and associated teams to avoid stoppage and ensure appropriate inventory levels. Search out items that appear to be serious shortages and expedite items that may involve longer lead times•Keep appropriate persons informed of delivery schedules so that proper communication can be made with customers and manufacturing team
  • Print labels for finished goods (domestic and international) as well as instructions, packing lists for kits, class packs, etc.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationship with suppliers, and develop new leads for other qualified vendors for critical items wherever possible

Skills & Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and timely follow-up practices
  • Fundamental understanding of purchasing/logistics process for a mid-sized company and how it relates to production lifecycle and business operations•Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently and track overlapping project timelines
